Texas State law requires students attending school to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. We want to remind you about the vaccines your child needs for school and to urge you to get your child vaccinated early. We encourage you to please get the shots before the end of summer vaccination rush and before school starts. Getting your child vaccinated protects your child’s health and that of the community Students should get vaccines from their doctor. Please make an appointment to get your child’s vaccines as soon as possible. Please remember, students cannot go to school without the right documentation for the required vaccines or a valid medical or conscientious exemption. For exemptions based on reasons of conscience, only official forms issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Immunization Branch, can be honored by the district. The form must be notarized and submitted to the principal or school nurse within 90 days of notarization. If the parent is seeking an exemption for more than one student in the family, a separate form must be provided for each student.
