The current individual members of the Beaumont Independent School District (“BISD”) Board of Managers have announced they will step down from their positions no later than the end of May 2017. The Board of Managers made this announcement Thursday, July 21, 2016, at its monthly general meeting.
Board President Jimmy Simmons stated, “[a]ll managers consider it an honor to serve this community and to assist in restoring BISD to academic excellence and financial stability. We have reached the end of our original two-year assignment, and we will continue our duties until we step down; however, each of us has decided that we will not serve beyond the end of May 2017.”
On July 6, 2016, the BISD Board of Managers entered an order calling for trustee elections on May 6, 2017. In the same directive, Commissioner Morath stated that the BISD Board of Managers must continue to order and hold elections as required by law.
The BISD Board of Mangers was originally appointed in July of 2014. The current Board of Managers consists of A.B. Bernard, Lenny Caballero, Jack Carroll, Joe Domino, Vernice Monroe, Dr. Jimmy Simmons, and Robert Turner.
