What is the PTO?

A Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a formal organization that consists of parents, teachers, and school staff.   The Mission of the PTO is to promote communication and cooperation between parents and teachers; and to work for the constant betterment of the school community and the harmony of its members.

What does the PTO do?

One of the functions of the PTO is to coordinates fieldtrips, enrichment programs, sponsoring community events, and fundraising for the school.  All money raised goes to pay for those events for the benefit of all students. Click here to see the enrichment programs and field trips offered during the 2015/2016 school year.

Another function of the PTO is to plan and execute special events such as the Halloween Party, Ice-Cream Social and other family social events. Click here to view PTO documents.

I paid $25 dues. What does that money go towards?

The suggested dues is $25 per student.  This money goes directly towards enrichment programs, and field trips of all the students.  Preschool students do not participate in a field trip, but are included in the enrichment programs.  This is to offset the approximate $35 per student cost for enrichment & field trip.  And $42.00 for the fourth grade students.

How can I get involved?

  • Meetings are held once a month (Wednesdays) in the Colonial Park Library.  The date of the next meeting is on the weekly “PTO Happenings” email.  It is also noted on the Colonial Park School Website calendar.
  • Volunteer!!!  PTO is always in need of volunteers without them; we’d have no events such as the Halloween Party, Pasta Dinner, etc.
  • Support the students, teachers and staff and help make your child’s experience at Colonial Park a great one!!

I have an idea; how can I contact the PTO?  Can I email someone?  To volunteer please email us!

We’d love to hear from you!  Any comments and suggestions can be emailed to Kristen & Tara at colonialparkpto@yahoo.com

I am not receiving the emails; who do I contact?

Please touch base with Mrs. Faughnan in the front office efaughnan@stonehamschools.org or by calling 781-279-3890

Is there a way to see how much money is in the PTO Account?

At the monthly PTO Meetings the treasurer provides a comprehensive Treasurer’s Report. At any time you may request a copy.  You can also visit the PTO Public google doc folder, which can be assessed through the PTO link on the main page. Or click here.
