ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY: Grades 10-11. One hour daily. Full year-1 credit.
This course emphasizes shop safety, tool usage and maintenance along with related mathematics and basic building skills and processes that are used in construction. This course will also explore the various careers in the architecture and construction industry.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY I: Grade 11-12. Two hours daily. Full year-2 credits.
Units of study will include basic construction skills, contracting skills, designing concepts, and an introduction to construction careers. Students will utilize shop activities and the construction of a residential home in their learning activities.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY II: Grade 12. Two hours daily. Full year-2 credits.
While building a residential home, students will receive advanced instruction in construction technology which will include: building design and blueprint reading, roof/frame construction, energy conservation, stairway construction, interior work and finish work. Construction Technology I is a prerequisite. A Certificate of Completion is issued to students who achieve a satisfactory level of competency at the end of their second year.
