MARKETING


INTRO TO MARKETING: Grade 9-10. One hour daily. 1 semester-1/2 credit.

This is an introductory course for freshman and will expose them to basic concepts used in today’s business world to promote food, sports, entertainment, merchandise, etc. Using marketing concepts such as: decision-making, sales, retailing, purchasing, and promotion; students will learn the benefits of a marketing education to prepare for business careers. Students will learn concepts and how to apply what they’ve learned in operating a convenience store using the Virtual Business Retail program. This course will introduce students to business thinking and promotional activities through technology, classroom work, and hands-on activities. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills.


 

SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING: Grade 10-12. One hour daily. 1 Semester-1/2 credit.

 

Explore the business of marketing in the area of sports and entertainment businesses. This course will focus on two main aspects of sports and entertainment marketing: 1) The marketing of sports and entertainment 2) The marketing of non-sports products and services through use of sports. Students will learn concepts and how to apply what they’ve learned in operating a football franchise using the Virtual Business Sports program. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills. RECOMMENDED: Students take Marketing I before Sports & Entertainment Marketing but not required.


 

ONLINE SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING: Grades 11-12. 1 Semester-1/2 credit.

MARKETING I: Grade 10-12. One hour daily. 1 Full Year-1/2 credit.

 


MARKETING II: Grade 11-12. One hour daily. 1 Full Year-1 credit.

Students will learn steps in making a sale, recording a sale, and promoting products to sell. They will develop skills used in selling. They will learn about ordering, pricing, and setting prices to earn a profit. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills.


PERSONAL FINANCE: Grade 11-12. One hour daily. 1 Semester-1/2 credit.

This course is intended to provide the student with basic understanding of retailing and selling of goods. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to operate a business. Students will learn and apply retail concepts to operating their own retail store while they compete against their classmates utilizing the Virtual Business Retail program. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills. PREREQUISITE: Have passed Marketing I


ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Grade 11-12. One hour daily. 1 Semester-1/2 credit.

This course is to help students become financially responsible. Students will learn skills in money management, budgeting, financial goal attainment, insurance, and investments. Students will learn and apply financial concepts to function daily with their own lives utilizing the Virtual Business Finance program. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills.

 

Do you want to own your own business? This course prepares you to do just that. Students will create their own business and develop a business plan. Students will learn the requirements and responsibilities of an entrepreneur. Students can also join DECA, a student organization; students will develop leadership skills by developing or improving problem solving skills, communication skills, organization skills, and teamwork skills. PREREQUISITE: Have Passed Marketing I

Marketing COOP is open to students to enroll who are in a marketing education class and are working 12-24 hours per week in retail related jobs. Students must be passing all classes to participate. See instructor to add this class.
