Hello Ella P. Burr Community,
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I am excited to be joining Ella P. Burr community and look forward to meeting each and every one of you. We have several new staff members joining the veteran staff who have worked with your children over these past several years. This is an exciting time and we look forward to meeting you and your child(ren) as we begin a new school year.
In order for each learner to be successful, it is important you be in regular contact with his/her teachers. A large part to being successful is learners being here on a daily basis. Please remember our school day begins at 7:45 am and anyone who comes in later than 8:00 am will be marked tardy. When home and school work together, the better the success. Take time each evening to read with your child(ren). Numerous studies show that by reading together, children can make significant gains in reading achievement.
We will continue to use our STAR assessment system to monitor your child’s progress in reading and math at least three times this year. We will be sending STAR report information home with each report card. Please be looking for these reports and don’t hesitate to contact your child(ren)’s teacher with any questions. The staff will be tracking the data from the STAR assessment system to make sure all learners are making progress towards the district standards.
It’s going to be a fantastic school year and we look forward to watching your child(ren) grow as learners and individuals. Please be sure to check the district policies as well as the information contained in the handbook. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, or stop in and say hello. I love meeting new people. Let’s make it a great year. Together we can do it!
