What Is Title I?

Title I is the largest federal aid program for elementary and secondary schools in the country. The funds are made available as a result of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, which now falls under the umbrella of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, as proposed by President Bush. The purpose of Title I is to help low-income students meet the challenging state standards and to ensure that all students are taught the same knowledge and skills as all other students. Title V - another federal aid program - also provides monies to schools to help improve academic achievement.

These monies may be combined and used to pay for extra educational services that will help students achieve academic excellence.

The mission of Greeleyville Elementary School is to collaborate with home and community and to educate students to their fullest potential as they become respectful, responsible, and competent citizens.
