Hemingway M.B. Lee Middle School held its annual Black History Program on February 28, 2018. Presiding over the program was 8th grade student Macy Moore. Several special performances were held during the ceremony including a liturgical dance, musical selections, and historical presentations all performed by students. Guest speaker at the event was WCSD Public Information Office Mr. Robert Moyd who spoke about influential African Americans from the past including Harriet Tubman, Muhammad Ali, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Mr. Moyd also discussed the importance of students taking action now to ensure that the legacy they have is great, and he shared several tips in doing so including the power of positive thinking and having dreams. The program concluded with a Glory March which was comprised of selected students at the school under the direction of Mrs. Ernestine Blow.
