HEC - Exams for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language

**Virginia and Marylandrecognize the Level B1 and all higher levels of Ellinomatheia Certificates as proof of language proficiency in Modern GreekAs a result, our students can submit the B1 Certificate (translated) to their high school to be awarded the Seal of Biliteracy at graduation.

 

 

The Hellenic Education Center, has a long and succesful tradition in the Ellinomatheia Exams. The HEC has been accredited by the Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs, and the Center for the Greek Language as an Examination Center for the Exams for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language. Since 1999, the Greek Language Center in Greece, has been conducting the exams with increasing number of participants every year.

 

We are proud to have set high standards on the certification of the Greek Language in the U.S. People who obtain the Ellinomatheia Certification are recognized worldwide for their language qualifications, which can be used to study in universities in Greece, Europe and UNCC (University of North Carolina at Charlotte), among other universities in the USA, give 3 credits for Ellinomatheia Examination.

 

By succesfully passing the Exams, the student receives a certificate that proves the level of proficiency in the Greek language. This process of taking an Ellinomatheia Exam not only helps the students build good test taking skills in a different language, but also gives them the motivation to study the language in depth and follow a rigorous academic program.

 

It is our mission to see all of our students set high goals and be successful from the lower to the higher levels.

 

 

Ellinomatheia Exams 2018 - Dates & Information

 

Registrations for the Ellinomatheia Exams 2018 will be taking place from February 1, 2018 until March 18, 2018. The Exams take place in May. The exams are open to everyone and will take place at HEC facilities as follows:

 

A1 (elementary knowledge for children, ages 8-12)
Tuesday morning on May 15th, 2018



A1 (elementary knowledge for teenagers and adults)
Tuesday morning on May 15th, 2018



A2 (basic knowledge)
Tuesday noon, on May 15th, 2018



B1 (average knowledge)
Tuesday afternoon, on May 15th, 2018



B2 (good knowledge)
Wednesday morning on May 16th, 2018



C1 (very good knowledge)
Wednesday afternoon on May 16th, 2018



C2 (excellent knowledge)
Thursday morning on May 17st, 2018

 

Please Note:
* You will need to bring a copy of the applicant's passport or picture ID.
* An oral examination will follow the written exam.
