The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corp (JROTC) program is not just a regular high school course with regular classes during regular school hours. JROTC offers students more opportunities to learn, excel in academics, and experience leadership while participating on teams. It also provides many extracurricular activities and events that provide students with community service hours. JROTC simply prepares students for life. The curriculum supports Kingstree Senior High School core classes such as History, Government, English, Technological skills. Current events and leadership principles are primary focuses of the course.
JROTC program focuses on developing young people and orienting them positively in preparation for whatever role in life they might choose. As far as benefiting students, JROTC is on a level all by itself. In the classroom, hands on activities support active learning and positive interaction. Competitions outside the classroom develops teamwork, unity, self-pride, school pride, and confidence.
Note: There is no military obligation associated with JROTC.
