Oakbrook Elementary School is very dear to my heart. In 1987, I was part of the team of teachers that opened the school. During that time, we worked together and won Palmetto's Finest and the National Blue Ribbon Awards. We set the standard of excellence that Oakbrook Elementary maintains still to this day.
Curriculum and instruction are very important to me. The educators in my building are in constant dialogue about: What is it we want the learner to know? How do we know if they know it? What do we do for those who know it? What do we do for those who do not know it? My experiences teaching grades first through sixth grade as well as some specialized reading programs allows me to be an integral part of the discussions and dialogues with the teachers. Student learning is my primary goal every day.
I always tell the children and parents that I have the best job in the world. Who could ask for anything better than getting to go to work and watch children grow to become successful young adults? I thank you always for sharing your children with me.
