School Board votes to waive instructional days for January 2018 weather closures

The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees voted unanimously at the January 22nd board meeting to waive three instructional days missed on January 3-5 due to winter weather closures. The Board also approved Superintendent Joe Pye submitting a request to the State Board of Education to waive the two additional days schools were closed on January 8-9.  

 

Per state law on school closings due to snow and extreme weather conditions, local school boards have the authority to waive up to three instructional days. For additional missed days, district superintendents must submit a waiver request to the State Board of Education for approval.

 

The three days district schools were closed on September 8, 11, 12, 2017 due to tropical storm Irma are being made up on designated make-up days on the school calendar as follows:

March 16, 2018
