Ordering, Returning, and Renewing Materials
The process for accessing your Instructional Support Fund is described in the OASIS Handbook. The annual amount is $1,800 per year for each full time student. (Note: K-8th grade students are full-time and enrolled at 100%. High school enrollment % depends on the course load). Funds for the school year are posted to your account each month for 9 months, at the rate of $200 per month per full time student, September through May. Families planning to use Instructional Support Funds to pay June CBI (Community Based Instructor) expenses must “save” funds from previous months to cover any CBI costs in June.
2. Please read through the "Requisition Tips" and the OASIS-approved vendor list before ordering.
3. Make sure you have funds available in your Instructional Support Fund to cover materials & shipping cost (see 'Allocation' in WINGS to confirm amount available).
4. Fill out the "Materials Requisition Form (word)" , (pdf version) and send it to your OASIS teacher. Orders are processed the 1st -15th each month during the school year.
Note: May 13th is the last day to order materials. Families with available funds can purchase supplemental instructional materials by May 13th necessary for finishing the school year. Keep in mind that we can't order full-year curriculum during the Spring.
Note: As required by state law, religious instruction and religiously biased materials may not be included in the Student Learning Plan, may not be purchased by OASIS, and may not be used to support the required average hours per week as these hours are considered “public school hours”. (Religious instruction is time spent directly promoting one religion over others.) The materials must not be of a nature that would preclude their use in a public school classroom. (Of course, families may use any materials they choose for hours not counted towards the minimum educational hours per week.)
All non-consumable materials are property of Orcas Island School District and will need to be returned at the end of the school year by June 15th.

Option #1: Return materials to OASIS through USPS. Media Mail is the cheapest way to return materials but must be paid out of pocket.
Option #2: Return materials via FedEx. While this is a more expensive option, you can ship via Fedex and use the funds available in your Instructional Support Fund to cover the $15-25 shipping costs per box (see 'Allocation' in WINGS to confirm amount available). To do this, email Laurie at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell her how many boxes you need to ship. Laurie will generate a mailing label for you and FedEx will email it to you directly (so watch for an email from FedEx!). Print the emailed label, attach to the package, and deliver to a FedEx pick-up location.
Non-consumable items may be renewed for one additional year if they meet all of the requirements listed below. OASIS staff will be able to process renewals after June 10th.
1. Please fill out and send the "Materials Renewal Form" (pdf) to your OASIS Teacher to renew materials for the 2016-17 school year. You may renew materials if these conditions are met:
+ The student did not finish the material this year OR the material will be used next year with a younger sibling.
+ You have had the materials checked out for only one year.
+ Your enrollment for 2016-17 is complete.
