Pope John Paul II Regional School strives to provide a quality early childhood program that develops the physical, social and cognitive abilities of young children. This developmentally appropriate program takes place in a safe, nurturing environment where the teacher, aide and children enjoy a loving partnership.
The Pre-Kindergarten class of three and four years old follows the Diocesan and NJ State Curriculum and Guidelines in learning and independent thinking. Of primary importance is the spiritual formation of the children. They learn about the wonders of the world created by God. They learn of God's love and His presence in their lives from Bible stories, prayers and songs. Age appropriate language and pre-reading skills are taught through the use of manipulatives, books and educational videos. They learn the alphabet and for some children beginning sight words. In mathematics the children learn about numbers, shapes and patterns. In Science and Social Studies the children use their senses, scientific investigation and multiple intelligences to explore the world around them.
The Pre-Kindergarten classroom is an active, fun and unique experience for the young child.
