Thank you to the local professionals who participated in the Elementary Career Fair on May 6. Guidance counselors Jared Hines and Amy Davis planned the event so that the 16 national career clusters were represented by industry professionals at booths located in the Sheffield Recreation Center. Students had the opportunity to hear a presentation on the various careers within the cluster and ask questions. Fifth grade student Avery Hollandsworth said, “"It was interesting to hear about what people do at their jobs and for us to get an idea of what we might want to do (as a career) in the future." Hines said he felt this would be a fun way to introduce a variety of professions to the students. “The career fair was a great experience for everyone! Students spent time listening to business representatives talk about the skills, training, salary and other aspects of their work.” Hines felt it was important to get as many local professionals as possible to speak to the students. Many of the clusters were represented by former Sheffield graduates.
