What is School Improvement Council

What is School Improvement Council

The S. I. C. serves to provide parents, administrators, and community representatives with support, information, and improvement strategies for the purpose of meeting the education needs of our students. In particular, the S. I. C.  distributes the W. M. Anderson Annual School Summary Report, sponsors "Back-to-School Family Night", and facilitates back to school registration.

SIC serves as an advisory committee to a school's principal and faculty. Unlike PTA/PTOs and other voluntary school organizations, councils are mandated by law to exist in every public school in South Carolina (now more than 1,100). SICs play a key role in the education of our state's children, bringing together parents, educators, and community stakeholders to collaborate on the improvement of their local school. More than 16, 000 people serve on SICs in South Carolina. To learn more about SIC in SC, click here.

All parents of students currently enrolled at W. M. Anderson Primary School are invited to attend our meetings.
