Art Classes

Various art classes are offered for children throughout the year.











Ages 11+

American Red Cross class will teach responsibilities and qualities of being a good babysitter.  Participants must attend ENTIRE class and pass skills and written tests to receive certification.





Break-Out Camps - Winter & Spring 


Grades 3 - 8


Need something to do during your Winter Break or Spring Break?!  Hang out with Wauwatosa Recreation!   Grab your friends and make new ones as we visit a number of fun and interactive attractions!  All transportation and admission fees are included.  You may register for the whole week or one day at a time.

Day Camps - Summer Only


Camp Wau-Wau-Tae-Sie

Grades K4-1 (grade completed)

This exciting adventure combines recreation, games and fun learning activities.  Campers will share activities with seniors from the Hart Park Senior Center, including arts and crafts, special guests and sing-a-longs.  New theme days and activities each season.



Camp Arrowhead

Grades 2 - 4 (grade completed)

Learn and practice camping skills in the woods and nearby fields.  Activities include survival skills, camp lore, hiking, swimming, archery, nature study, camp cooking and field trips.





Outdoor Adventures

Grades 5 - 8 (grade completed)

Join us for a week of adventures ranging from team building/high ropes courses, rock climbing, canoe/kayaking, adventure caving and swimming.




Drama Instruction


Creative Drama

K4-1st Grade

Introduction to creative dramatization, rhythmic movement to music, creative storytelling, pretend play and use of props.



Beginning Actor's Workshop

Grades 2 - 6

Discover the fundamentals of acting: stage directions, facial expressions, vocal interpretation, gestures and auditioning.

(At least one session of Beginning Actor's Workshop is required before participation in the Little Theatre of Wauwatosa.)



Intermediate Drama Workshop

Grades 3 - 6

Advanced study and presentation including voice creativity, stage movement and character interaction. A presentation of a dramatic scene, play, radio drama or reading will complete this workshop.

Parent Letter


Teen Volunteers (Ages 12-18) are needed! 


Teen volunteers will be expected to work closely with a small group of 4K students under the supervision of Ms. Sara Gagnon, certified educator for the past 12 years. Teens are expected to be available every day during their chosen section(s). Parents, please note that teens will need to add 15 minutes on to the front and back of each session, to allow for class preparation and class clean-up.

There are 4 sessions to choose from. Two in June and two in July. Teens are welcome to sign up for more than one session. If Teens have a partner that they’d like to work with please make sure that each partner is aware of the session(s) selected.


Complete the Safety Town Volunteer Application or email with the following information:

  • First and Last Name of volunteer
  • Section choice (June 7:30, June 9:45, July 7:30am, July 9:45)
  • If you wish to work as team with another volunteer, list his/her full name
  • School you attend

Sewing for Kids

Ages 8 - 12

Learn to sew and make something for your next sleepover!  You will be amazed at the things you can make all by yourself. Sewing machine basics will be introduced by making a pillowcase, and then we advance to pajama pants or shorts.  Bring your own machine to class or use one provided. Kids Can Sew Pajama pattern ($4 - purchased first day of class).  Additional supplies are required.





Summer Adventure Club

Grades K4 - 6th (completed)

Summer Adventure Club is an exciting opportunity designed for students enrolled in Summer School that may need an extended day.* Activities include arts and crafts, weekly themes, games, swimming, learning activities and field trips.

*Students need not be enrolled in Summer School to participate.

Summer Playgrounds

Supervised activities for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.



K4 - 1st Grade (completed)

Active games, arts and crafts, storytelling and scheduled Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday field trips.




General Playgrounds

2nd - 7th Grade (completed)

Active games, arts and crafts, "theme days", old favorites (lanyard, Skelly, Box Hockey) and Friday Field Trips (times vary)

Teen Day Trips

Grades 5th - 8th

The Recreation Department offers Teen Day Trips through out the year.  Examples include Canoe/Kayak, Horseback Riding, Action Territory & Snow Tubing.
