Summer School Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are the dates of Summer School High School courses?
A. Six-week, 2.5-hour classes meet June 19-Aug 4; (with the week of July 4th off). Three-week, 5-hour classes meet either June 19-July 14 or July 17-Aug 4 - Monday through Friday
Q. What time does each class begin for High School?
A. The first period begins at 7:30 a.m. Six-week classes that begin at 7:30 a.m. end at 10:00 a.m. Three-week classes will end at 12:35 p.m. Second period for six-week classes begins at 10:05 a.m. and ends at 12:35 p.m.
Q. What are the dates of Summer School for Elementary classes?
A. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 8 am - 11:55 am
Starting June 19 through July 14 for Session A and July 17 - Aug 4th for Session B
1st period - 8 - 9:15 am
2nd period - 9:20 - 10:35 am
3rd period - 10:40 - 11:55 am
Q. Can students leave during their break time?
A. No, we have a closed campus during summer school. Students who leave during break risk suspension.
Q. Is there special ed support during summer school?
A. Special ed services are very limited during summer school. Teachers will be given a copy of the student's school year IEP, and there may be a resource person available to help with test taking. Please contact your child's caseworker if you have concerns.
Q. When does registration close?
A. Registration closes May 1st. It will open back up for on-site registration starting June 13th through June 16th. Please visit one of the 4 summer school locations for on-site registration....East, West, Eisenhower or Lincoln.
Q.What is the attendance policy for High School courses?
A. Students cannot miss more than 3 days of class in any six-week course; no more than 1 1/2 days in 6 weeks, 5 hour courses; no more than 1 day can be missed in hybrid courses. Also, excessive tardies will count as absences. Students who miss more than the allotted number of class periods for any course, will not receive credir for that course.
