The Wauwatosa School District provides the public education of about 7,200 students in the City Wauwatosa, a charming suburb of Milwaukee.
With walkable neighborhood schools and a tradition of excellence in academics, performing arts, athletics and other extra-curricular activities, the district is one families seek out.
We have repeatedly earned the grade of "Exceeds Expectations" on district Report Cards issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
The district consists of nine traditional elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.
Additionally, we offer options for parents seeking a less traditional route for their child's education, through our elementary Wauwatosa STEM charter school, the elementary Wauwatosa Montessori school and Wauwatosa Virtual Academy, an on-line school for grades 6-12.
The district also provides teaching staff for Milwaukee County programs, including Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, River Hills School and the Detention Center. As the voluntary governing body, Wauwatosa School Board sets budgets and policies and is comprised of seven board members elected on the basis of numbered seats to three-year terms.
