Partnership with Franklin County Sheriff Office
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with Franklin County Schools, created the School Resource Officer program. The School Resource Officer, or S.R.O., is a law enforcement officer who is present at our school on a daily basis. The School Resource Officer has three important roles at our school:
- As a law enforcement officer, the S.R.O. helps maintain a safe and secure school environment.
- As a teacher, the S.R.O. provides classroom instruction on law-related topics and the positive role of police in the community.
- As an advisor to the school community, the S.R.O. helps address issues related to law enforcement, substance abuse, delinquency, and other law related topics.
D.A.R.E. is a ten-week curriculum for fifth grade students offered in collaboration with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. The D.A.R.E. program provides children with the information and skills necessary for a life which is free of drugs and violence. The new D.A.R.E. curriculum focuses on teaching students how to make good decisions, avoid negative influences, and focus on their strengths and potential. Additionally, the program helps create positive relationships between students and law enforcement officers, teachers, parents, and other community leaders.
