Elia Vasquez-Brooks

 

Mrs. Brooks was born and raised in Los Angeles.  She graduated from Belmont High School and then attended CSU Los Angeles where she received her B.A. in Social Work and her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy.  Mrs. Brooks worked 8 years as a Clinical Director with Probation and Foster youth before coming to work for PUSD.  She began working in the middle schools as a Support Counselor in 2007 and then in 2010 began working as a high school counselor.  She is fluent in Spanish and is currently the lead counselor at Pomona High.  Mrs. Brooks is passionate about her job and really enjoys helping her student realize their dreams of graduating high school and attending higher education.

Mrs. Elida Lopez grew up in Pomona and attended all Pomona schools.  She graduated from Garey High School, and receieved an A.A. degree from Mt. San Antonio College.  Mrs. Lopez has been a PUSD employee for 30 years.  Her first job with PUSD was as a secretary, and while she was working, married and raising three beautiful little girls, she went back to school.  She attended CSU San Bernadino where she earned her B.A. in Spanish.  Shen then went on to earn her Teaching Credential and her Master's Degree in Education from Claremont Graduate School.  After eight years in teaching she went back to school again to earn her PPS Credential and second Master's Degree in School Counseling from Azusa Pacific University.  She truly believes that it is never too late to earn an education.  Her favorite quote is, "There are so many roads in the world; it's all about the one you choose to take."
